CRB wins contract for Dumfries and Galloway.s first school cashless catering system

Having maintained a dialogue with Dumfries and Galloway over a number of years, CRB are delighted to have won the contract to install the region’s first cashless catering system into Castle Douglas High School in October 2003.

After close liaison with council and catering representatives CRB were able to design a system to match the requirements. Dumfries and Galloway had visited sites operating cashless catering systems around Scotland and the North East of England and opted for the IMPACT system to be operated by use of the Young Scot card.

The POS touchpad terminals will be operated remotely without the need for either power or communications cables. The solution takes advantage of recent developments at CRB, which uses wireless communication and battery power to eradicate the need for cables. A similar system was recently installed in SCHOOL in Cambeltown. The POS terminals will also feature remote customer displays to improve the visibility of the customer display.

Keith Percival of Dumfries and Galloway said,

“We have been looking at cashless catering for a while. Our research suggested that IMPACT was likely to prove be an excellent solution and its flexibility to operate with the Young Scot Card settled the issue. We are currently working closely with CRB to make preparations for Castle Douglas. This is all part of a broader strategy to improve and integrate public services and to follow the recommendations of the ‘Hungry for Success’ report.”
