CRB develops Remote Cashless Catering System

CRB have developed a wireless, remote cashless catering system. IMPACT can now operate with entirely wireless POS Units. By placing a battery inside the POS unit and developing a wireless communications system CRB can provide online POS solutions to areas where cabling can be difficult or impossible.

Tom Swanston, Director of CRB Solutions said,

“In the past we have encountered many multi-site schools where cabling between buildings is difficult and also many cases where the precise location of the POS unit is restricted by cabling constraints. Some of our clients want POS terminals in the middle of a school hall or across adjacent sites; wireless terminals solve these problems.”

The basic ‘online’ characteristic of IMPACT is preserved, but here the network communications are conducted by radio waves not wires. A battery fitted to the POS unit is charged up overnight providing ample power to operate through a lengthy lunchtime service the following day.

Vending machines and Revaluation Units can communicate by radio too, but their power requirements over longer periods make mains electricity the most likely choice of power supply.
